The stretching stage has following features:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>symmetrical movement relative to the centre of the sample, facilitating recording of comparable images;<\/li>\n<li>electrical connections to the sample insulated from the stage body;<\/li>\n<li>remote control using a dc actuator;<\/li>\n<li>low height to fit to the microscope set-up (originally: Veeco Nanoman VS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I obtained the Au@PDMS samples from prof.&nbsp;Sigurd Wagner of Princeton University. The dc actuator driver was designed by Piotr S\u00f3wka. I carried out the experiments with Magdalena Mocza\u0142a and Karolina Or\u0142owska.<\/p>\n<p>We described the device in details in a paper entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.measurement.2016.03.031\">\u201cA symmetrical stretching stage for electrical atomic force microscopy\u201d<\/a> (<em>Measurement<\/em> <strong>87<\/strong>, 2016). Moreover, it was used e.g. in research reported by W. Kaczorowski, K. Gajewski <em>et al.<\/em>. in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.surfcoat.2017.10.070\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cEvaluation of mechanical properties of carbon coatings synthesised in radio frequency plasma on PDMS\u201d<\/a> (<em>Surface and Coatings Technology<\/em> <strong>333<\/strong>, 2018) and reported by K. Gajewski, W. Szyma\u0144ski et al. in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.diamond.2018.01.014\">\u201cQuasi in-situ observation of the elastic properties changes of the graphene\u2013low-density polyethylene composites\u201d<\/a> (<em>Diamond and Related Materials<\/em> <strong>82<\/strong>, 2018).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The AFM-compatible stress examination device was designed to investigate thin gold films deposited on PDMS substrate.
